Tampering
Location: 1500 Block of Bellomy Street

While patrolling the area, an officer was flagged down by a male subject on the 2100 block of El Camino Real.

The subject stated all four tires and rims were stolen off his vehicle on the 1500 block of Bellomy Street. The vehicle was also damaged during the theft. The suspect(s) were unidentified and at large.

Location: 2700 Block of Sonoma Place

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding graffiti on the 2700 block of Sonoma Place.

An unknown suspect(s) painted graffiti on the school side of a common fence between Central Park Elementary School and a residence. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Disorderly Conduct
Location: 900 Block of Kiely Boulevard

Public Safety Dispatchers received repeated calls from a male subject on the 900 block of Kiely Boulevard. The subject was not experiencing a medical emergency and was not in danger. The caller was cursing, aggressive and abusive. He did not respond to Dispatcher inquiries or requests to stop abusing emergency services.

An officer was dispatched to the subject’s residence to evaluate the situation and ask the subject to stop abusing 9-1-1 services.

Chronic abuse of 9-1-1 is a burden to public safety trying to triage real emergencies and puts police officers at risk.

• A serious crime that has just occurred (e.g. sexual assault, robbery)
• A suspicious circumstance that may indicate an imminent criminal act (e.g. prowler, vandal)
• Text-to-9-1-1 is available in the City of Santa Clara to callers in an unsafe situation (e.g. home intruder, domestic violence), are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech issue

If you call 9-1-1 for a non-emergency matter, it will not result in a faster response. Emergency situations are always given priority over situations where response is not urgent or time sensitive.

• Reporting a crime with no suspect (e.g. theft of a license plate)

• On-going crime issues or crimes that are not in-progress (e.g. graffiti or on-going drug dealing with no suspect on scene)

It is a misdemeanor in California for any person to willfully use the 911 system for any purpose other than reporting an emergency. It is a felony if someone is injured or dies because of emergency service response to a false call.

Petty Theft
Location: 4900 Block of Avenida de Lago

An officer was dispatched to the 4900 block of Avenida de Lago to take a stolen property report. Two bicycles were left unsecured, valued at $500 combined

While en route, the victim stated the bicycle was found on the website "OfferUp." The victim made arrangements to purchase the bicycle back from the seller on the 2500 block of Channing Avenue. The victim was requesting a police standby to recover the bicycle.

The bicycle was confirmed to be that of the victims. The male seller was placed under arrest. A search of his person also yielded a controlled substance.

A female victim came to the Police Building to report a stolen license plate. It is unknown when the license plate was lost/stolen. There is no suspect information.

Theft of a Credit Card
Location: 2400 Block of Lafayette Street

A victim called the Santa Clara Police Department to report an unknown subject used a credit card to make purchases at a business on the 2400 block of Lafayette Street.

The victim is a resident of San Diego and has not given anyone permission to use the bank card. The victim was informed by the business that they have video of the transaction. This case was forwarded to the Investigations Division.

Found Property
Location: 300 Block of Hayes Avenue

An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Hayes Avenue to collect found property – a bicycle.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the reporting party. The reporting party stated the bicycle had been left in the neighborhood for about one week. The bicycle was taken for safe keeping.
