VIDEO: Sheriff’s Aviation/Air Rescue Teams perform multiple swift water rescues

INCIDENT:Multiple Swift Water Rescues
LOCATION:Santa Ana Riverbed, San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
There was a large amount of rain in the San Bernardino and nearby foothills from the afternoon of February 13th, through the afternoon of February 14th.
On above date, between the times, the Colton Fire Department , San Bernardino County Fire Department, Redlands and Cal-Fire Riverside received several reports of numerous people stranded on an “islands” in the Santa Ana Riverbed. There was fast moving, rising water on both sides of the victims. Sheriff’s helicopters 40King1 and Air Rescue 306 were requested to assist with the swift water rescues.
40King1 conducted the rescue of eleven people, at three separate locations by hovering near their position and assisting them into the helicopter. The crew transported all the victims to waiting medical aid.
Air Rescue 306 (seen in video) rescued one person by hovering near him, assisting him into the helicopter and transporting him to waiting medical aid.
Air Rescue 306 then conducted the hoist rescue of three people who were also stranded, by hoisting down a medic from the San Bernardino County Fire Department to the victims. The victims were all hoisted up to the helicopter and transported to medical aid.
