VICTIM: AJ's Pawn and Jewelry
SUSPECT: ORTIZ, Marina Monique, 18 years of age
NARRATIVE:
On February 9, 2019, at approximately 3:22 PM, Pomona Police Department received a call regarding a person who had just stole and expensive necklace from AJ's Pawn and Jewelry. That suspect, posing as a customer, requested to look at a large rope style gold necklace which was housed behind a locked cabinet. As the suspect inspected the necklace, she suddenly ran out the front door of the business, into a nearby neighborhood, and out of sight. The resulting investigation revealed Suspect ORTIZ was the one who had committed this crime, and she was said to be at a home in neighboring La Verne. Pomona Police Officers contacted Suspect ORTIZ at the home, where she ultimately confessed to the theft, as well as selling the necklace in order to get money for other desired items. In addition, she admitted to committing the same type of crime recently in the City Of Chino. Pomona Police has forwarded her information to Chino Police Department. Suspect ORTIZ was subsequently arrested for the charges listed above and booked into the Pomona City jail.
