Press Release - NBPD Seeks the Public’s Assistance in Identifying a Suspect in a Bank Robbery

The Newport Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a bank robbery investigation. The crime occurred on February 8, 2019 at 10:15 am at Citibank (1100 Newport Center Drive). The suspect entered the bank carrying a red Target reusable bag, handed the bank teller a note that stated he had a “bomb,” and verbally demanded cash. The loss is unknown at this time. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The attached photos were captured by Citibank at the time of the robbery.
At this time, it is believed that this is the same suspect that was involved in the Chase Bank robbery in Oceanside, CA and the attempted Wells Fargo Bank robbery in Escondido, CA on February 5, 2019. The suspect is described as using a demand note, having the same identifying description, and wearing a surgical mask.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect in the photo is encouraged to contact Detective Jason Prince at 949-644-3762.
