On 12/23/18, the Fond du Lac Police Department requested assistance from the Sheboygan Police Department as part of the Regional Response Team to investigate the in-custody death of Christopher L. Cary, age 37.  The investigation was completed and was referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney's Office for review.  On 02/07/19, the District Attorney issued a ruling that the death of Mr. Cary occurred through his voluntary ingestion of cocaine during a lawful traffic stop.   The investigation further revealed that Mr. Cary died of "acute cocaine toxicity".  A detailed summary of the investigation has been posted on the Sheboygan Police Department website under "Latest News" http://sheboyganpolice.com/spd-assists-fond-du-lac-pd-with-in-custody-death-investigation/.
