Commuter Van Crash Causes Multi Mile Delays for Morning Rush Hour

Commuter Van Crash Causes Heavy Delays in Morning Rush Hour

At 6:44am Wednesday South Brunswick Police received several calls of a multi vehicle accident on Route 130 southbound just prior to Distribution Way. Officers arrived and found 3 vehicles including a commuter van had collided.  South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau investigated and determined William Pross Jr., age 50 of Dayton, was driving his GMC pick-up truck south when it collided with a commuter van while it was stopped the light.  The commuter van, Can Cun Transportation out of Somerset, then struck a third vehicle.  The commuter van was loaded with passengers; 8 of which reported minor injuries.

In addition to South Brunswick Police,  South Brunswick EMS, North Brunswick First Aid Squad, Monroe First Aid Squad, and Monmouth Junction Fire Department responded to the crash.  The large number of patients were divided between the first aid squads and transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash forced Route 130 southbound to be closed down to one lane for 90 minutes causing multi mile delays for the morning rush hour. NJ DOT responded to the scene to assist with the closure of the right lane of travel as well as the shoulder.  Dean’s Garage removed the vehicles and the roadway was reopened.
