...FREEZING RAIN LIKELY TUESDAY NIGHT...

A storm system will bring precipitation to central Illinois Tuesday night. With cold air at the surface but much warmer conditions just off the ground, this will result in ice accumulations from freezing rain. Current indications are that a tenth to two tenths of an inch of ice are likely to accumulate north of a Macomb to Bloomington line. This would cause very hazardous travel, and potential damage to power lines or weak tree branches.

Temperatures will be very close to freezing much of the night, though areas west and north of Peoria are more likely to fall into the upper 20s. A slight change to this freezing line will have a big impact as to how much ice accumulates and where. However, conditions are expected to improve Wednesday morning, as temperatures rise further above freezing.

Instructions:

These conditions are likely to impact the Wednesday morning
commute to work or school. Be sure to monitor the latest forecasts
on this situation.
