Investigators have ID'd the homicide victim as Michael Martin; Coroner needs assistance locating family of victim

INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 11500 block of Eaby Road, Phelan
VICTIM: Michael Martin, 54 years old, resident of Phelan
SUSPECT: Yvonne Cassady, 56 years old, resident of Phelan
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, January 31, 2019 at 7:22 p.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded, along with medical aid, to a report of a subject with a stab wound. When deputies arrived lifesaving measures were being performed, however the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to conduct the investigation. Following the investigation, Detectives arrested the victim’s girlfriend, Yvonne Cassady.
Cassady was booked at West Valley Detention Center for Murder and is being held without bail. She is expected to be arraigned on February 4, 2019 in Victorville Superior Court.
Coroner Investigators have identified the victim as Michael Martin, however they have been unable to locate the next of kin. Anyone with information regarding Martin’s family is asked to contact the Coroner Division at (909)387-2978.
