Hollister Police Animal Care and Services Low Cost Spay and Neuter Update

Hollister, CALIFORNIA – February 1, 2019– Hollister Police Animal Care and Services will be conducting the first of several low cost spay and neuter days for City of Hollister residents. The registration day is the same, February 8, 2019,  the procedure day will now be March 10, 2019
 
            This spay and neuter day is planned to be the first of many held throughout the year and is designed to assist those community members who might not otherwise be able to afford spay and neutering services for their animals. Appointments will be made in advanced and in person at the Hollister Animal Shelter on a first come-first serve basis.
 
            On Friday, February 8, 2019 from 3pm-8pm the Hollister Animal Shelter will be scheduling 4 canine neuter appointments, 2 canine spay appointments, 2 feline spay appointments, and 16 male cat neuters.
 
These services will cost only $50.00 per pet and must be paid at the time the appointment is scheduled. The fee is nonrefundable. *included with each procedure is a FREE microchip and a FREE Rabies vaccination.
 
Once all appointments have been filled, additional applicants may be placed on a waiting list in the event of any cancellations. This waiting list may also be referred to for future spay and neuter clinic days. All appointments must be made in person at the Hollister Animal Shelter and will require proof of residency within the City of Hollister (we are working to expand theprogram to include County of San Benito residents at this time).
In order for your pet to qualify for low cost spay and neuter your pet must:
 
·         be in good health with no preexisting conditions
·         weigh between 5-75 pounds
·         be between 6 months-7 years of age
·         females must not be in heat or pregnant
·         be friendly and safe to handle- no feral animals
·         be licensed with the City of Hollister (if applicable)
·         Be mircrochipped* and registered with the City of Hollister
 
This is the first of many planned low-cost spay/neuter clinics for the Holister Police Animal Care and Services Bureau.
 
Due to scheduling changes the first Low Cost Spay and Neuter day (The day the actual proceedures will take place) will now be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019.
