January 21st

Robbery – 6400 block of Knott Ave:
At 6:54 pm, an officer responded to a call of a robbery and learned a pizza delivery person had been approached by two suspects and robbed. The suspects took the pizza and cash from the man before fleeing.

Robbery, Warrant Arrest – 9895 San Pablo Ave:
At 7:30 pm, an officer responded to a call of a robbery and learned a juvenile had grabbed a laptop computer from a patron inside the business and ran from the store. The juvenile was tackled by several citizens and held until police arrived. The juvenile also had a warrant for his arrest and was transported to juvenile hall in Martinez.

Warrant Arrest – 6400 Cutting Blvd:
At 8:30 pm, an officer was dispatched to the BART Station to meet with a BART PD officer who had located a 28-year-old woman with an El Cerrito PD warrant for her arrest. The El Cerrito PD officer transported the woman to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 1600 block of Kearney St:
At 8:43 pm, an officer responded to a report that an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a Fastrak transponder and a pair of shoes.

Auto Burglary – 6400 Portola Dr:
At 4:30 am, an officer responded to a report that an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through its interior, but no loss was reported.

Auto Burglary – 1600 block of Kearney St:
At 4:48 am, an officer responded to a report that an unknown suspect broke a window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a small knife.

January 22nd

Failure to Register, Probation Violation, Drug Paraphernalia – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:18 pm, an officer responded to a call of a suspicious male inside a local business. Upon arrival the officer located a 29-year-old transient man who was acting erratically. The man was found to be a registered sex offender who had failed to comply with his registration requirements. The man was also found to be on probation and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was arrested and later released from the El Cerrito Police Department with a citation.

Hit and Run Collision, DUI – Potrero Ave / San Pablo Ave:
At 8:25 pm, an officer responded to a call of a hit and run collision where the at-fault party had driven off without providing all of the required information. Witnesses at the scene of the crash reported the at-fault driver appeared to be intoxicated. Officers located the 54-year-old Richmond man driving by the scene of the accident and identified him as the responsible party. At the conclusion of several field sobriety tests, the man was arrested for DUI and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 23rd

Robbery – San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd:
At 6:19 pm, an officer responded to a call of a robbery and learned a juvenile victim was confronted by two juvenile suspects and challenged to a fight. The victim traded punches with the suspects who at the end of the confrontation stole the victim’s backpack.

Auto Burglary – 5020 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 6:36 pm, an officer responded to a call of an auto burglary and learned an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a laptop computer.

Auto Burglary – 6600 block of Gatto Ave
At 11:02 pm, an officer responded to a call of an auto burglary and learned an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through its interior, but no loss was reported.

January 24th

Auto Burglary – 8000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 8:16 pm, an officer responded to a call of an auto burglary and learned an unknown suspect broke a window on the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack which contained a computer.

Residential Burglary – 10900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 9:00 pm, an officer responded to a call of a residential burglary and learned an unknown suspect entered an apartment by unknown means and stole electronics.

January 25th

Auto Burglary – 6400 block of Fairmount Ave:
At 8:20 am, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 8:20 and 11:20 am, an unidentified suspect smashed a window and stole cash.

Child Abuse – Churches Chicken, 11575 San Pablo Ave.:
At 2:36 pm, officers responded to the report of a two-year-old child abandoned at Churches Chicken. A male was pushing the baby in a stroller and came in and asked for water. He then sat on the bus bench. Community members noticed the man had departed, leaving behind the stroller. About fifteen minutes later, they checked on the child in the stroller and couldn’t find the man anywhere. Officers summoned an ambulance, and the child was transported to the County Hospital. Child Protective Services responded to take temporary custody of the baby girl. The male, the child’s father, a 23-year-old man was found a few blocks away. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – San Pablo Avenue at Potrero Avenue:
An officer pulled a vehicle over for a vehicle code violation and found the driver had a warrant for their arrest from the Berkeley PD. The driver was issued a citation for the warrant and was released from the scene.

Auto Burglary – 5030 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:40 pm, an officer responded to the call of an auto burglary that just occurred. When the officer arrived, he found the suspect had shattered the window of a van and stole two backpacks from inside.

January 26th:

Stolen vehicle recovered – Conlon Avenue at Kearney Street:
At 7:03 pm, an officer saw a suspicious looking vehicle parked at this location with nobody inside and found it to be reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department. The owner of the vehicle was called, and they came and picked up their vehicle.

Robbery – Bart Path to the rear of El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:19 pm, officers responded to the report of a robbery that just occurred. The victim reported that as he rode his bicycle along the BART path, a group of five teenagers knocked him off his bicycle and took his laptop and money out of his pocket. After they stole his property, the suspects ran away.
January 27th

Warrant – 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
An officer contacted an individual who had a warrant for their arrest. The individual was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 5700 block of San Diego Street:
An officer responded to the report of an auto burglary that had just been discovered. The officer learned that between 5:00 PM and 10:40 PM someone had cut a lock on a toolbox mounted in the bed of a pickup truck and stole power tools.

January 28th

Auto Burglary – 10600 block of San Pablo Ave:
A CSO reported that in between 10:40-10:50 am, an unidentified suspect broke the window of a Nissan Maxima and stole the victim’s purse from the trunk.

Probation Violation - 1000 EC Plaza:
At 12:48 pm, officers were dispatched to the report of a man with a gun at the EC Plaza. The subject was reported to be in a purple Cadillac Escalade with a black handgun. A 41-year-old Richmond man was contacted and found to be in possession of a variety of replica firearms and knives secreted inside his vehicle; in violation of his probation.

Grand Theft (Person) Peet’s Coffee, 9895 San Pablo Ave.:
At 1:35 pm, officers responded to the report of a theft from a person. A patron was working on their laptop when the suspect stole the computer from them and fled south on San Pablo Ave. A good Samaritan chased the suspect who dropped the MacBook Pro laptop near Wells Fargo.

Grand Theft – Shoplifting - 10794 San Pablo Ave:
At 2:43 pm, officers responded to the report of a subject stealing a large number of purses from the store. An officer located the suspect vehicle entering W/B I-80 at Potrero Ave. and contacted a 42-year-old Richmond woman. The female was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
An officer responded to a call of an auto burglary that occurred between 5:40 PM and 6:20 PM. The officer learned that someone had shattered two windows on the vehicle and stole a backpack and a sweater.
