FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A TRAVEL ADVISORY (LEVEL I) HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR WAYNE COUNTY, THE CITY OF RICHMOND, AND THE TOWN OF CENTERVILLE DUE TO BITTERLY COLD TEMPERATURES AND DANGEROUS WIND CHILL VALUES.

This TRAVEL ADVISORY takes effect at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. This Advisory will remain in effect until Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 1:00pm.

This TRAVEL ADVISORY has been issued to warn those who must be outdoors or travel in or around Wayne County roadways and City streets to use extreme caution due to bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous wind chill values.

Due to the extreme cold temperatures, residents should plan and prepare accordingly. Use caution when going outdoors or traveling and do not venture outdoors for any length of time without proper cold-weather attire. Precautions should be taken including; checking on elderly neighbors, keeping pets indoors, keeping space heaters in a safe location, and using extreme caution when using alternative heat sources.

A LEVEL I TRAVEL ADVISORY DOES NOT IMPOSE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON TRAVEL ON COUNTY ROADWAYS. MOTORISTS MAY TRAVEL AT THEIR OWN RISK.
