Advisory

** Driving Caution ** Rain/Snow/Rain/Rain/Snow/ Cold !!!!!

Todays briefing will be just that, brief! I am guessing here based on the data. We are looking at rain turning to snow turning to rain and then maybe snow. Ugh! Elsa quit and Olaf went home. For sure, over the next few days we will see extreme cold! Anything wet will be frozen. Please please use caution on the road. We have seen an increase in road rage incidents and struck pedestrians in the area so please take extra time, clear windows before you drive and never use your cell phone except to call 911 for a true emergency.
Stay safe & warm !
Chief Garofalo

Report from NOAA:

 A winter storm will impact the mid-Atlantic today into tonight with areas of all snow and others with rain changing to snow. Hazardous travel conditions are expected, mainly affecting the evening commute.

 The heaviest snowfall will likely occur over portions of the Poconos, the Lehigh Valley, and northwestern NJ, where precipitation will remain all snow.

 For areas along the I-95 Corridor, precipitation may begin as light snow or a rain/snow mix before changing to rain, followed by a transition back to snow late day.

 Elsewhere farther south and east, precipitation should begin as rain, then end as snow this evening and tonight.

 Arctic air will begin to overspread the region on Wednesday afternoon and evening, possibly accompanied by scattered snow showers and snow squalls. Reduced visibilities and quick coatings of snowfall are possible at times through the day with any squalls.

 Bitterly cold temperatures combined with gusty winds will produce dangerous wind chills below zero Wednesday night and Thursday. Coldest wind chills could drop below -20°F across the Poconos and NW NJ. There will be a heightened risk for hypothermia and frostbite.
