DETAILS: Ptl. Zicha was detailed to the Target store for a shoplifter being detained by Assets Protection. Investigation found that Christian Truglio had concealed a robot vacuum cleaner into a dog bed. He used price tags from soap dishes worth .99 cents and attached them onto the dog bed and onto a lamp. He proceeded to the checkout and paid $1.98 for the two under-valued items, but not the vacuum cleaner. Truglio was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

Van Ness investigated a theft where the following was reported: The victim received notification on January 4th at 10:55 AM that a package from Sephora had been delivered to the front of his apartment. When he returned home, he could not find the package. The following day, he found the package in front of his garage door. It had been obviously opened and resealed, and two items were missing from inside.

DETAILS: Ptl. Insalaco was detailed to an attempted burglary to a business located at 14 Washington Rd. Investigation determined the following: Someone used a cutting tool to try and cut a hole in a window near the latch to unlock the window. When that failed, a rock was used to smash the window, but only a small portion of the window was broken out. No entry was made into the business.

DETAILS: Ptl. Mahon was detailed to a residence on South Mill Rd. for an attempted burglary to the house. Investigation determined the following: The victim awoke to find that she had two alerts from her web-based security system. Video showed that a black male walked up her driveway and to her car where he pulled on the door handle, but he could not get in since the car was locked. The suspect then walked to the back of the house, opened the screen door to the back door, and found that door to be locked too. The suspect then left the area.

Investigation determined the following: While the residents were asleep, unknown actor(s) entered the home by cutting a screen window, opening the unlocked window behind it, and crawling through. Money was taken from both a purse that was on the kitchen table and a wallet on the living room table. A PlayStation and accessories were also taken from the living room.

DETAILS: Ptl. Collins was detailed to the Target store for a shoplifter who was being detained by Assets Protection. Assets Protection observed Mercedes John select several articles of women’s clothing, conceal the items in her purse, and pass all points of sale without paying. When officers arrived to take her into custody, she provided a false name and information of another to them. She continued to use the assumed identity throughout processing at WWPD Headquarters. A check of her fingerprints revealed her true identity, and she was charged for additional offenses related to her deception.

DETAILS: Ptl. Fiore was detailed to Dick’s Sporting Goods for a shoplifting that had occurred earlier in the afternoon. Investigation revealed the following: Two black females, both approximately 25-35 years of age, approximately 5’ 05” in height, and with medium builds, entered the store together. They went directly to an Adidas brand display, selected stacks of Adidas sweatshirts and leggings, took some additional items as they headed for the entrance, and then proceeded to exit through the entrance when an alert employee confronted them. Both suspects fled into the parking lot where they both got into a gold-colored Hyundai SUV and left the scene. The total value of the loss was $980.00.
