Vehicle Pursuit leads to 5th offense Operating while intoxicated arrest.

On 1/22/19 at 12:49 AM officers from the Janesville Police Department were dispatched to 699 Johnson Street on a report of a burglary in progress. According to the reporting person a subject later identified as Shane Clark was attempting to gain entry into the residence.

Clark left the scene in his vehicle as officers were being dispatched to the residence. Officers located Clark driving out of the area, and attempted a traffic stop in the area of River Street and W. Racine Street. Clark failed to stop for the officer, and a vehicle pursuit began. Officers pursued Clark North on River Street to Court Street, and East on Court Street. Clark drove around tire deflation devices at the intersections of E. Court Street and Garfield Ave, and E. Milwaukee Street and Ringold Street. Clark traveled North on Ringold Street, and East on E. Memorial Drive. As Clark arrived at the intersection of E. Memorial and Harmony Drive an officer performed a PIT Maneuver on Clark’s vehicle. The maneuver temporarily disabled Clark’s vehicle, however he was able to regain control of his vehicle, and continue Northbound on Harmony Drive. Clark turned east on Hawthorne Ave where he lost control of his vehicle, spun out in the roadway, and was taken into custody by officers. Clark was held at the Rock County Jail on the below mentioned charges.

The distance of the pursuit was 2 ½ miles. The maximum speeds during the pursuit were 40 miles an hour.
