Yellow Level Travel Advisory Remains in Effect for Hamilton County. Wind Chill Advisory Issued for Sunday Night

The current orange level Travel Watch is reduced to a yellow level Travel Advisory as of 6:00PM Sunday evening. This is the lowest level of local travel advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation. Individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Unincorporated roads are those roads maintained by Hamilton County, usually roads outside cities and towns. County Highway has been out throughout the day clearing roads but there are still hazardous areas and there will be refreezing tonight as salt and other chemicals are not as effective in the extreme temperatures expected tonight.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect tonight. Please use caution if outside. Livestock should be fine in the weather but check on domestic animals and provide adequate shelter and/or heat.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central and west central Indiana.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon EST Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
