The National Weather Service has upgraded the local High Wind Watch to A HIGH WIND WARNING.
A warning means the event is now considered Imminent.
A fast moving front will be passing through the area tomorrow
The front will cause very High Winds ahead of the weather system.
The High Weather Warning affects the Southeastern Kern County Desert.
Winds overnight will increase to sustained winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts around 65 MPH.
The National Weather Service consider these gusts to be “Damaging”.
Residents in the affected area including California City, should take precautionary measures to reduce wind related damage.
Lawn furniture, outside items such as trampolines should be secured.
Residents with wooden fences should inspect them to prevent fallen fences. Pet owners should take precautions to prevent pets from escaping through fallen fences.
Travel for for high profile vehicles will be hazardous
Travel through passes especially Highway 14 and 58 can be impacted by the high winds.
This high wind warning can potentially lead to damaging trees and power lines. Residents should be prepared for intermittent power loss.
More information will be disseminated as the weather system approaches.
The Warning starts at 1:00 AM tonight until 6:00 PM Monday.

...A HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM PST MONDAY UNTIL 6PM PST MONDAY
The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 1 AM PST Monday until 6 PM PST
* WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph, with gusts near 65 mph, especially
just below the passes.
* TIMING...The strongest wind gusts are likely in wake of a
southward moving cold front, starting Sunday night and
persisting through Monday.
* IMPACTS...Damaging wind gusts may blow down trees and power
lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel could be
hazardous, particularly for high profile vehicles, such as
campers and tractor trailers. Highways impacted include
Highways 58 and 178 through and below Tehachapi and Walker
Passes, Highway 14, and U.S. 395.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Wind gusts of 58 mph or higher could lead to
property damage.
