ROAD UPDATE - 01/20/2019 - 5AM

Road crews have been working through the night clearing roadways. Illinois State Routes have patchy areas of snow pack. City road crews have plowed most areas and the roadways are open but a layer of snow pack or ice still remains. Rural roads in Hamilton County are the roads impacted the most. Many road crews have been out through the night but SIGNIFICANT DRIFTING has occurred. Several roads in the county (mostly roads running east and west) have major drifting. Motorist are encourage not to travel unless absolutely necessary. With temperatures falling into the teens and the wind chill, stranded motorist could find themselves in a life threatening situation very quickly. Bottom line is travel is NOT ADVISED.
