Advisory

Forecast for some snow and possible icing Saturday night through Sunday. Use caution if you have to be on the road.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a significant winter storm expected to effect our area beginning Saturday evening/night with some snow. While not forecast at this point, should the track change, we could experience some icing Sunday.
If you must be out on the road, give the plow/salt trucks room so they can do their job. Give yourself extra time and slow down.
We want everyone to arrive safely at their destinations.

EVENT SUMMARY
A significant winter storm will impact the mid-Atlantic this weekend with a wide variety of precipitation types and impacts.
Heavy rainfall in areas south of the rain/snow transition zone could lead to both flooding Saturday night into Sunday.
Sunday late morning and afternoon, a rapid temperature drop will lead to a hard freeze of any areas of slush and standing water, even for areas that received little to no snowfall. This will lead to very icy conditions Sunday evening and overnight. Bitter cold air will make clearing snow and ice very difficult.
