Kajukenbo belts provide a goal for members to strive towards and accomplish.  Most importantly, each belt provides a base line to help students track their progress and mastery of the sport.

The Kajukenbo club meets at the Fairfield PAL Center on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Kajukenbo is an American hybrid martial art. The name Kajukenbo is a portmanteau of the various arts from which its style is derived: KA for Karate and Tang Soo Do Korean Karate, JU for Judo and Jujutsu, KEN for Kenpo and BO for Western and Chinese Boxing.

The program is led by Coach Anthony Marquez.  He has been the kickboxing and martial arts teacher for the PAL program since it opened in November 2008.  His successful teaching career in martial arts started in 1978, when he began teaching self-defense to women and children in Hawaii.  In 1982, he won the Professional World Karate Association Full Contact Championship, which is a title he held until his retirement in 1989.  Coach Anthony’s classes focus on building a strong mind, body and spirit connection.  He promotes humility, respect for others, and most importantly, respect for oneself while teaching basic and advanced skills.

The Fairfield PAL program offers Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis teens a place to grow, learn, and build the skills they need today and in the future. The PAL Center offers teens a safe environment, supports working families and helps students achieve by giving them opportunities right now.

The Fairfield PAL Program is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis students ages 13-18 who are enrolled in school. Memberships are $10 per year and can be purchased at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Webster Street) Mon-Thursday between 11:30-5:30pm. A current student ID is required to register.
