When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.


Notable Cases

On Monday, 01-07-19 at 3:38 p.m., Officer Cabatic was dispatched to a residence on the 1000 block of Hanover Street on a report of a subject attempting to break into the reporting party’s residence. The reporting party said her grandson was supposed to be in a rehab center but was banging on the door. Officer Cabatic observed the 38-year old subject was intoxicated and was unable to stand by himself without assistance. Officer Cabatic placed the subject under arrest for being intoxicated in public and violated his parole.

On Wednesday, 01-09-19 at 3:32 p.m., Officer Lajoie was dispatched to the 500 block of Schwerin Street on a report of a male who was exposing his genitals while standing on the sidewalk. The reporting party saw the subject expose himself in front of two females as he passed by them. The subject, a 39-year old San Francisco resident, was subsequently arrested for indecent exposure with a prior felony and for being in possession of a controlled substance.

On Wednesday, 01-10-19 at 11:09 p.m., Officer Martin and Officer Dhaliwal were dispatched to an apartment building on the 2600 block of Geneva Avenue on a report of a subject causing a disturbance in the lobby. The officers located the subject, a 48-year old Daly City resident, and arrested him for public intoxication.

On Wednesday, 01-09-19 at 11:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Annex Bar on Mission Street on a report of a strong-arm robbery. The bartender said a subject was smoking outside the bar with other people and came through the front door. The bartender told the subject she did not want him inside the bar because he was drunk. The bartender said the subject then entered the bar, went behind the counter and took money from an open register. The bartender said the subject put his wallet down on the bar. As the bartender tried to get the money back from the subject, she said the subject pushed her. Other patrons were able to hold down the subject. Officers ultimately arrested the subject, a 33-year old transient, for robbery, possession of stolen/lost property (other people’s identification/credit cards were in the subject’s wallet), possession of unlawful paraphernalia (pipes) and for an outstanding warrant.

On Thursday, 01-10-19 at 3:33 a.m., a 24-year old South San Francisco resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was involved in a single-vehicle collision with a lamp post on Junipero Serra Boulevard south of D Street.

On Sunday, 01-13-19 at 2:32 p.m., Officer Haas was dispatched to the 3100 block of Geneva Avenue on a report of a subject who was trying to open a woman’s car door. Dispatchers advised that the subject was able to get into the car and locked himself inside it. Officer Haas observed the subject was acting as if he was under the influence of a drug and conducted field sobriety tests to determine whether he was under the influence. The subject, a 34-year old Grass Valley resident, failed the tests and was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Sunday, 01-13-19 at 11:21 p.m., Officer Edwards and Officer Cain were dispatched to the Nation’s Hamburgers restaurant on a report of a subject who was yelling inside the restaurant. The subject, a 39-year old Daly City resident, was under the influence of a controlled substance and was transported to Seton Hospital due to having abnormal vital signs. Officer Covarrubias arrived to translate, and the subject was subsequently issued a citation for being under the influence of a controlled substance.


Robberies

There were two robberies during the past week.

On Tuesday, 01-08-19 at 1:45 p.m., a 21-year Daly City resident reported her ex-boyfriend took her iPhone out of her hands when she and her friend were walking on the 600 block of Orange Street. The suspect, a 21-year old Richmond resident, is still at large. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 01-09-19 at 11:42 p.m., a strong-arm robbery occurred at the Annex Bar on Mission Street. See “Notable Reports” for more information.


Residential Burglaries

There was one residential burglary during the past week.

On Saturday, 01-12-19 between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., an unknown subject entered a residence on the 200 block of San Fernando Way, possibly through an unlocked door, and stole an iMac computer and associated equipment, an Xbox and equipment, a MacBook Pro, a backpack, jewelry and a passport. The victim suspects that a subject he let stay at the house took the items.


Commercial Burglaries

There were four commercial burglaries during the past week.

On Tuesday, 01-08-19 at approximately 7:36 p.m., two unknown female subjects entered the Victoria’s Secret store, grabbed clothing and ran out of the store without paying for the items.

Between Thursday, 01-10-19 at 11:55 a.m. and Friday, 01-11-19 at 9:45 a.m., an unknown subject burglarized the Gee Yin Chinese restaurant on Mission Street by breaking the chain and padlock to the front door. The suspect took a cash register and miscellaneous computer equipment.

On Friday, 01-11-19 at approximately 5:53 p.m., five unknown subjects entered the Big 5 store, grabbed various Adidas clothing, handwarmers and other merchandise and left the store without paying for the items.

On Friday, 01-11-19 at approximately 7:11 p.m., three unknown subjects with empty shopping bags entered the Victoria’s Secret store, stole several items of bras and perfumes and left without paying for the items.


Vehicle Burglaries

There was a significant rise in the number of auto burglaries during the past week. There were fourteen vehicle burglaries and two attempted burglaries.

• 200 block of Southgate Avenue (rear)—a duffle bag containing yoga clothing was taken from the rear passenger floorboard of a 2013 Toyota Prius. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on 01-07-19 between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
• IHOP parking lot—a Lenovo laptop, Apple MacBook pro, iPad and a hotspot were taken from a 2018 Tesla. An unknown window was smashed. Occurred on 01-10-19 between 8:00 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. **On-line report made.
• Westlake Shopping Center parking structure (2nd floor) on Lake Merced Boulevard—a bag containing cosmetics was taken from the passenger seat of a 2007 Honda Accord. Occurred on 01-10-19 between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot #C5—a backpack containing books and school items was taken from a 2015 Jaguar XF. The passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot #C5—nothing was taken from a 2014 Lexus CT200H. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 9:47 p.m. and 10:43 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot #C5—unknown what was taken from a 2018 Kia Soul. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 8:50 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Crunch Fitness—a bag containing paperwork, a Dell laptop, iPad and checkbooks was taken from the trunk of a 2018 Tesla. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
• Outback Steakhouse parking lot—a backpack containing gym clothes, headphones and shoes was taken from the front passenger seat of a 2014 Honda CRV. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 5:15 p.m. and 10:20 p.m.
• Celia’s restaurant parking lot—nothing was taken from a 2018 Subaru Impreza. The left front window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 8:50 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
• Celia’s restaurant parking lot—a children’s backpack and another backpack containing a Kate Spade wallet was taken from a 2013 Nissan Altima. The left front window was smashed. Occurred on 01-11-19-between 6:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
• Unit block of Morningside Drive—unknown what was taken from a 2015 Honda Odyssey. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on 01-13-19 at 1:42 a.m.
• Cow Palace parking lot—a wallet containing $20, credit cards and a driver's license was taken from under the passenger seat, a cell phone was taken from the center console, and a duffle bag containing clothing and a HP laptop was taken from a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The right front window and right rear windows were smashed. Occurred on 01-13-19 between 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
• Koi Palace parking lot—a wrench tool set was taken from a 2015 Toyota Highlander. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on 01-13-19 between 5:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.
• Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Crunch Fitness—a backpack containing a Dell laptop, watch, keys and paperwork was taken from the trunk of a 2017 Honda CRV. The rear windshield was smashed. Occurred on 01-10-19 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
• Outback Steakhouse parking lot—an attempted burglary to an unknown vehicle. Rear window was smashed but no entry was gained. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 9:20 p.m. and 10:20 p.m.
• Koi Palace parking lot—an attempted burglary to a 2017 Toyota Prius. The right rear window was smashed. No entry was made. Occurred on 01-11-19 between 6:30 p.m. and 10:55 p.m.


Stolen Vehicles

There were six vehicles stolen during the past week. Three were recovered.

• 200 block of Castle Street—a 1993 Honda Civic. Occurred on 01-08-19 between 6:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
• Unit block of Crestview Avenue—a 2000 Honda Civic. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 01-08-19 and 9:32 a.m. on 01-09-19. **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on 01-12-19.
• 500 block of Skyline Drive—a 2007 Audi A3. Occurred on 01-09-19 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on 01-09-19.
• 100 block of MacDonald Avenue—a 1993 Nissan Altima. Occurred on 01-11-19 at 10:28 p.m. The victim left the vehicle running while he went back to turn off the lights in his house.
• Unit block of Peoria Street—a 2003 Ford F250. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 01-11-19 and 4:00 a.m. on 01-12-19. **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on 01-12-19.
• Parking lot of 860 Campus Drive—a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 01-11-19 and 8:00 a.m. on 01-12-19.


Miscellaneous

• We responded to 11 domestic disturbance cases
• There were 2 shoplifting incidents reported
• There were 7 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold
• There were 3 vandalism cases reported
• There were 7 hit and run collisions reported
• Our Police Assistants put “boots” on one vehicle
