EVACUATION ORDERS LIFTED FOR WOOLSEY FIRE BURN AREA

WHAT:           EVACUATION ORDERS LIFTED

WHEN:          FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WHERE:       THE WOOLSEY FIRE BURN AREA

NOTES:  Unified Command will continue to monitor the Woolsey Fire Burn Area, as well as those areas remaining closed due to critical infrastructure concerns or safety hazards.

The potential for falling rocks, mud and debris flow still exists and residents should maintain good situational awareness when reentering the area. Residents returning to evacuated areas can expect to see continuous running water at Arizona crossings and light mud and rock coverage on portions of roadway. Many canyon and local roads will be slippery and all motorists are urged to drive slowly and cautiously. Do not attempt to cross flooded areas and never enter moving water.

Road closures at Malibu Canyon Road and Topanga Canyon Road will remain in place until Los Angeles County Public Works and CalTrans can ensure the stability of the hillsides. For the latest information regarding road closures please visit the following websites.

LA County Public Works: https://dpw.lacounty.gov/roadclosures/

CalTrans: http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov

All future information pertaining to safety considerations will be updated at www.lacounty.gov/LARain

SAFETY MESSAGE – The public is reminded to stay vigilant on current weather conditions. A reminder to drive slowly & yield to emergency personnel in the area. If at any time you feel unsafe, call 911.
