Summary:

Organizers for Women’s March Petaluma have obtained a Special Event Permit and will be conducting a march on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Downtown Petaluma. They are requesting temporary street closures during the march for participant safety.

The march is scheduled to start at 12:30 PM and is expected to end at approximately 1:30 PM (1 hour). Temporary road closures will take effect at the intersections along the march route and will immediately open once it’s determined to be safe. Temporary road and intersection closures include; D Street at Petaluma Blvd, 4th Street at D Street, 4th Street at C Street, 4th Street at B Street, 4th Street at Western Ave, Kentucky Street at Washington Street, Petaluma Blvd at Washington Street, Petaluma Blvd at Western Ave, Petaluma Blvd at B Street and Petaluma Blvd at C Street.

The intended march route will be the same as the Butter and Eggs Day Parade. However; plans have been made to modify the route to a shorter distance which will be based on the number of participants. The decision to use the modified route will be made the day of the event. If the modified route is used, marchers will be diverted onto Western Ave from 4th Street and routed onto Petaluma Blvd.

The Police Department will be working this event to reasonably accommodate any traffic related issues. The Petaluma Police appreciates the public’s patience and understanding and requests those who cannot avoid the area to allow plenty of time for travel.
