Petaluma PD Seeking Witnesses Related To Death Investigation
Incident Summary
On January 16, 2019, at approximatley 9:30 PM, officers were dispatched to the northwest corner of Caulfield Lane and Lakeville Street for a report of subject lying on the sidewalk partially into the roadway. Upon the arrival of the officers, members of the Petaluma Fire Department were already on scene attending to an adult female subject and preparing to transport them to Petaluma Valley Hospital. The female subject was conscious and breathing but unable to talk. The female did not appear to have any visible injuries or signs of trauma and otherwise appeared to be experiencing an unknown medical issue. The female was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital, however, their condition deteriorated, and they ultimately passed away.
The scene and surrounding areas were checked for evidence and nothing suspicious was located. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit was contacted and took custody of the female. The identity of the female is not being released at this time pending notifications by the Coroner’s Unit.
The Petaluma Police Department is actively investigating this case and at this point nothing regarding this incident appears to be suspicious. Anyone who may have observed this incident or the female subject is encouraged to contact Officer Sutherland at 778-4372.
