Winter Storm Watch until 07:00PM Sunday

..SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND... .Very cold temperatures in the mountains and northwest winds will combine to produce wind chills as cold as 20 below at times this morning. This weekend a significant storm system will move through the Northeast. Saturday night into Sunday snow will quickly break out across the area. There remains some uncertainty with the exact track of the low pressure, but signals for a very cold low level air mass have increased the confidence for significant amounts of wintry precipitation enough to issue a winter storm watch. While 6 inches or more of snowfall is possible for all of the forecast area, some locations in southern New Hampshire and coastal western Maine could see a mix with sleet and freezing rain in the northern track scenarios. At this time the forecast is for a fairly widespread double digit snowfall, but exact amounts or ranges will begin to narrow as we end the work week.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of greater than 6 inches possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, northern and southern New Hampshire and south central, southwest and western Maine.

* WHEN...From Saturday evening through Sunday evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to dangerous, especially near the coast where winds may reduce visibility to one quarter mile or less at times. It is also possible sleet and freezing rain may mix in at times near the coast and parts of southern New Hampshire.
