CREEK CAM AND STORM INFORMATION
1/16/2019
The Fairfax Police/Town Hall Creekcam is working but not streaming very well. We believe that too many people are accessing it causing issues. The Fairfax Police Dispatch center has a separate camera of the creek and is monitoring it. Additionally, we have a creek alert system in place that sends Police personnel text alerts when the creek level reaches varying levels.
The Ross Valley Fire Department and Marin County and Marin County Fire Department have sent out Nextdoor and Nixle information on the storm with advisory’s. We won’t repeat those here.
Be sure to watch or listen to your local news for weather updates.
Currently there is a power outage in various areas of Fairfax. We do not have any estimate on PG&E restoring power at this time.. The Fairfax Police station is currently running on generator power. You can view PG&E Outage map at https://m.pge.com/#outages.
We are already addressing multiple reports of wires and tree’s down and expect more storm related problems for a number of hours.
Please only call our the Fairfax Police Dispatch center for true needs. We have two dispatchers taking phone calls and handling the police and public works radios. We are already being overwhelmed with non-urgent inquiries.
Be sure you are signed up for NEXTDOOR urgent alerts that you can receive on your Cell phones.
Be sure you are signed up for Nixle alerts. Text your zip code to 888777 to opt in
While we don’t expect the creek to overflow, if you hear the Town Siren this evening it will mean the creek has overflowed or overflowing is imminent.
