January 1

Residential Burglary – 2200 block of Spyglass Lane:
At 2:36 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered a residence by forcing open a backdoor. Once inside, the suspect conducted a light ransack taking multiple items. The burglary occurred between 11:00 am on 12/30/18 and 2:00 pm on 1/1/19.

Auto Burglary – 300 block of Pomona Ave:
At 4:58 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect forced their way into a vehicle causing damage. While inside, the suspect removed the victim’s property before fleeing the scene.

Robbery – Luckys 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 9:27 pm, an officer reports a 28-year-old man was detained while shoplifting and fought with store staff as he attempted to flee. The man was arrested and later released, however, after reviewing the video footage more closely a more substantial crime was determined to have occurred.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Eastshore Blvd:
At 11:02 pm, an officer contacted a 44-year-old woman during a traffic stop and learned she was wanted by the Richmond Police Department. An officer from the Richmond Police Department arrived at the El Cerrito Police Department and took custody of the woman.

Brandishing a Weapon – Crown Bar 9937 San Pablo Ave:
At 1:15 am, an officer reports a woman and a man were involved in a verbal dispute earlier in the evening at a local bar. When the woman confronted the man about his behavior, the man produced a tiny pocket knife and pointed the item at the woman. During a brief struggle, the woman received a small superficial cut to her hand.

January 2

Auto Burglary – 1100 block of Richmond St:
At 6:02 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and removed cards and loose change.

Auto Burglary – 6400 block of Waldo Lane:
At 7:34 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the passenger side window to gain entry into the vehicle and removed a bomber style jacket.


Residential Burglary – 6200 block of Cypress Ave
At 10:08 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the residence by forcing the front door.

Residential Burglary – 2700 block of Del Monte:
At 2:09 pm, officers responded to a report of an alarm from a residence. Officers arrived on scene and found a kitchen door was forced open. A K9 arrived on scene, searched the residence, but the suspect had already fled.

January 3

Strong arm Robbery – Fairmount Avenue and Ramona Street:
At 1:15 pm, an officer reports while the victim was sitting on a bench, a subject approached her, snatched her purse, and run away. The victim attempted to chase the subject but was not able to catch him. The subject fled in an awaiting car.

Shoplifting – Barnes, and Noble 6060 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 6:43 pm, an officer responded to a report of a shoplifting and learned the suspect, who had been identified as a 36-year-old man, exited the store with several items without paying.

Warrant Arrest – MOD Pizza 5040 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 9:27 hours, an officer was flagged down by a citizen in regards to the strange behavior of a 28-year-old man inside the shopping center. The officer contacted the man who had several warrants for his arrest. The man was given a new court date and released from the scene.

Commercial Burglary – Noodle Fresh 10042 San Pablo Avenue:
At 3:24 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect used a rock to break the front door glass to the business and removed property before fleeing.

January 4th

Auto Burglary - 233 El Cerrito Plaza:
At approximately 7:40 pm officers responded to the report of an auto burglary. Between 7:00 pm and 7:35 pm, the victim found that a window on their vehicle had been shattered and property had been stolen from inside.

Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Avenue near Moeser Lane:
At approximately 2:00 am an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for several vehicle code violations and subsequently arrested the driver for DUI. After booking at ECPD, the driver was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 5th

Garage Burglary – 800 block of Kearney St:
At 10:35 am, an officer responded to the report of a burglary of a detached garage. In between, December 22nd and January 5th, an unidentified subject entered an unlocked garage and stole a bicycle and power tools.

January 6th

Auto Burglary - 11900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:54 pm, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 11:30 – 11:50 am, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and stole items.

Shoplifting – Marshalls, 10794 San Pablo Ave:
At 3:54 pm, an officer responded to the report of three female suspects with duffle bags loading up merchandise. One suspect stood by the door and talked to the security guard while the others loaded up and then fled the store south towards Tehama Ave.

Warrant - San Mateo Avenue near El Dorado Avenue:
At 9:00 pm an officer saw a person who he knew had an outstanding warrant for their arrest driving a vehicle. The officer pulled the vehicle over and arrested the person for the warrant. After booking at the ECPD, they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 3000 block of Yolo Avenue:
At 9:37 pm an officer responded for the report of an auto burglary. Between 7:00 and 8:00 pm a toolbox attached to the victim’s pick-up truck was broken into, and $1000.00 worth of power tools were stolen.
