News Release: Man Arrested for Sex Crime Against Child; Additional Victims Sought

Police arrested a Palo Alto man for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 with whom he is related. The suspect also teaches piano lessons to children out of his home, and police are looking into the possibility that there may be additional victims. On Sunday, January 6, 2019, our department received information from a mandated reporter that a girl had been sexually abused over the past 17 months in a residence in the 4000 block of Campana Drive. The investigation revealed that an elementary school-aged girl had been inappropriately touched by the suspect, who is related to the victim. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Thursday, January 10 charging 34-year-old Nicholas Robinson with 17 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and one count of dissuading a witness (all felonies; the last count for attempting to convince someone with knowledge of the abuse not to contact authorities). Detectives arrested Robinson later that afternoon at a relative’s home in Soquel. Police booked the suspect into the Santa Clara County Main Jail pursuant to the warrant. His booking photo is attached to this release (note: the booking photo has been removed pursuant to AB994 as of December 2023). Robinson teaches piano to children out of his home. While detectives are not aware of any additional victims, we are calling attention to this case since the suspect had access to other children. Anyone who believes that their child may be a victim is welcome to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.
