Homicide Detectives arrest Andrea Carvajal of Perris for the shooting death of a longtime friend

LOCATION: 6900 block of Central Street, Highland
VICTIM: Flavio Camacho, age 61 a resident of Highland
SUSPECT: Andrea Carvajal, age 62 a resident of Perris
SUMMARY:
On Friday, January 11, 2019, at approximately 7:31 pm, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a residence in the 6900 block of Central Street following the report of shots heard at the location. Upon arrival deputies located the victim, Flavio Camacho, inside the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the residence. The suspect fled the location prior to the deputies’ arrival.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Through investigation, Andrea Carvajal was identified as the person responsible for the shooting death of Flavio Camacho. Carvajal was determined to have been a longtime friend of the victims and was at the home with him prior to the shooting.
Detectives from the Specialized Enforcement Division were requested to assist in locating and apprehending Carvajal.
On Saturday, January 12th, detectives from the Specialized Enforcement Division located Carvajal in Riverside. Carvajal was transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters were she was interviewed by Homicide Detectives. Carvajal was subsequently arrested, transported and booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 187 Murder.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation. No additional information is available for release at this time.
