Press Release: Residential Burglary Suspects In-custody

SUSPECT #1: Andre Lamont McBride Jr, 23-year-old Hayward resident
SUSPECT #2: Michael L. Ambrose, 22-year-old Alameda County resident

On January 2, 2019, at approximately 11:38 A.M., a resident victim called the Milpitas Police Department to report she heard noises in her backyard. She told police dispatchers she was hiding and that it sounded like someone was trying to open her bedroom. Milpitas Police officers arrived and saw McBride climbing out of an open window. McBride saw an officer at the front of the home and jumped a back fence to another home where officers were waiting. McBride tried to run from the officers and fell into a swimming pool. He was taken into custody without further incident. An officer saw Ambrose jump another fence from the victim’s residence to another yard. A Milpitas Police canine was brought to the scene and officers searched the area for Ambrose. He was found hiding in a yard and taken into custody without incident.

Jewelry, cash, and other items stolen from the victim’s home were found in the possession of both suspects. McBride is on Post Release Community Supervision Probation in Alameda County for a firearms violation. Ambrose is on Alameda County Probation for a firearm violation and is on Parole from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for assault with a deadly weapon. McBride was booked into the Santa Clara County Mail Jail for burglary, conspiracy, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, and a probation violation. Ambrose was booked into the Santa Clara County Mail Jail for burglary, conspiracy, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, a probation violation, and a parole violation.
