At the request of the City of Petaluma, Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) will be recalibrating and testing its railroad crossing warning systems in the downtown Petaluma area to accommodate the City of Petaluma’s changes to its traffic control system.

The City of Petaluma is changing the timing of its traffic signals near Lakeville Highway and D Street near SMART’s train station. To accommodate those changes, SMART will also adjust its crossing warning systems, which will require overnight safety testing this weekend. The testing will begin late Friday and continue through Saturday. For safety reasons, SMART will be providing flaggers during the testing period and will be required to use the train horn.
