On January 5^th, 2019 at approximately 1:00 AM, the Middle Township Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Route 9 in the Whitesboro section of the Township.  The investigation revealed Shawn Karge, age 25 of Cape May Court House, was driving north bound on Route 9 when he fell asleep.  The 2011 Dodge Ram pickup Karge was driving, drifted across the center line, ran off the roadway and then struck 3 utility poles before coming to final rest.  Karge was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.  Karge was issued a summons for careless driving.  The road was shut down for several hours to repair the damaged utility poles.  Rio Grande Fire, Green Creek Fire and Middle Township EMS assisted on scene.
