On Friday, December 28, 2018 at about 8:06 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on Central Expressway near De La Cruz Boulevard. A small box truck was travelling westbound on Central Expressway from De La Cruz Boulevard when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. He succumbed to those injuries and died today.
The driver of the truck, a 64-year old male resident of San Jose, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He had no signs of intoxication. The pedestrian, a 65-year old male resident of San Jose, was a reported missing person by his family.
