Colors Run Honoring Steve Belanger

On December 21, 2018, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy Class #433 completed their colors run through the streets of Rowland Heights in honor and remembrance of fallen Walnut Station Deputy Steve Belanger. Today, the recruits of Class 433 graduated and became sworn deputies and police officers. Congratulations to the men and women of Class 433!

On Saturday, December 10, 1994, Deputy Steven Belanger was ambushed while conducting a traffic stop on the 18400 block of La Guardia Street in the Rowland Heights area. He recognized the driver of the vehicle as being wanted for a previous assault. While he searched the two occupants of the car, one of the man’s friends rode up behind Deputy Belanger on a skateboard and shot him in the back of the head.
