Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a two car traffic crash on US 12 Hwy and Sunset Blvd. in Cass County's Porter Township. This crash occurred on 1-4-19 at approximately 7:11am. The crash investigation showed that a car driven by Lindsay Sztojka (33 yrs of Union, MI) was pulling onto US 12 Hwy turning left from Sunset Blvd. and failed to yield right of way to a east bound pick-up being driven by Nicholas Rink (33 yrs of Union, MI). Mr. Rink's pick-up struck Ms. Sztojka's car within the intersection, which caused Ms. Sztojka's car to split in half. Mr. Rink was not injured and Ms. Sztojka was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Assisting on the crash scene was SEPSA ambulance, and Porter Township Fire Dept. The crash remains under investigation.
