Alert

Multiple crashes in San Angelo due to icy road conditions. Avoid traveling if possible. Avoid bridges & overpasses.

San Angelo is experiencing dangerous driving conditions due to icy roads.  Several crashes have occurred and we expect more due to current weather conditions.  You can help decrease the number by staying off the roads (if possible), but if you must drive, please use extreme caution.

Driving Tips:

*Slow down. Speed limits are based on normal road and weather conditions, not winter road conditions.

*Maintain at least three times the normal following distance on snow or ice.

*Watch carefully for TxDOT and First Responder vehicles and stay at least 200 feet behind TxDOT De-Icing equipment.

*Use extra caution on bridges, ramps, overpasses and shaded areas as they tend to freeze first.

*If your vehicle starts to slide, ease off the gas pedal or brakes. Steer into the direction of the skid until you have regained traction. Then straighten your vehicle.

Instructions:

Use caution while traveling. Avoid Loop 306 as well as area bridges and overpasses.
