Incident Summary

On January 1, 2019 at approximately 1:59 AM as the bar crowd was clearing the 100 block of Kentucky Street 2 black males from Santa Rosa, Gregory MacDonald and Malik Telcy both 22 years old reportedly attacked a 29-year-old white male.

The victim was standing on the sidewalk of the 100 block of Kentucky St. when Telcy walked up from behind the victim and punched him to the right side of his head. The force of the blow to the victim’s head caused the victim to fall into the roadway. This hit to the head was captured on video which was reviewed by police.

Immediately after the victim fell into the roadway, MacDonald walked up and kicked the victim directly in the face. After kicking the victim in the head MacDonald delivered several blows with his fist to the head area of the victim.  This was not caught on video however several witnesses identified MacDonald as kicking the victim in the face. After hitting and kicking the victim both MacDonald and Telcy ran to the Keller St. Garage where they attempted to leave the area in a sport utility vehicle. Both MacDonald and Telcy were detained by officers in the garage. They were both arrested shortly after as they were identified by witnesses.

When officers arrived on Kentucky St. several citizens were rendering aid to the victim who was bleeding from the mouth and face and appeared to be convulsing. He was transported by the Petaluma Fire Department to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries to his face, head and teeth.

It is unknown why MacDonald and Telcy attacked the victim. Both MacDonald and Telcy claimed the victim started the fight however this does not appear to be the case from the video or witness observations.

Telcy and MacDonald were booked into the Sonoma County Jail for Battery with Serious Bodily Injury.

Photo attached is Gregory MacDonald. At the time of this press relase a photo of Malik Telcy was not available.
