Alert

Information Regarding Annual Rose Parade Float Escorts In Irwindale on December 31st between 2:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M.

A special event involving the escort of Rose Parade floats will occur in the city of Irwindale in the afternoon on Monday, December 31, 2018.

On this day, thirty-eight (38) floats from two different production facilities in Irwindale will move through the cities of Irwindale and Azusa on their way to the 2019 Rose Parade in Pasadena.

As part of this event, parking restrictions and intermittent full or partial road, lane and intersection closures will be required on various streets within the city of Irwindale, as well as a small portion of the city of Azusa, as follows:

Beginning at 6:00 am, there will be intermittent street closures and limited vehicle access on the following streets due to float judging and support vehicle staging on:

• 16000 block of Avenida Padilla in the city of Irwindale
• 1300 block of W. Optical in the city of Azusa

Beginning at 1:00 pm, there will be a full street closure on the following street due to float judging and support vehicle staging on:

• 16100 block of Ornelas in the city of Irwindale

Temporary "No Parking" restrictions will also be in effect on portions of Irwindale Road, Adelante Street and Ornelas Streets throughout the day.

Beginning at approximately 2:30 pm, and continuing at various times throughout the day, parade floats will be escorted through portions of the cities of Irwindale and Azusa on their way to Pasadena.

The escort route will travel between Avenida Padilla in the city of Irwindale to the west Irwindale city limits at the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Peck Road. Depending on the floats starting point, the escorts will generally take the following route:

• West on Avenida Padilla;
• West on Ornelas Street;
• South on Irwindale Road;
• South on Irwindale Avenue;
• West on Arrow Highway; and
• West on Live Oak Avenue to the city limits at Peck Road

Limited portions of the escorts will also include:

• West on 16100 block of Ornelas Street to Irwindale Avenue.

It is estimated that it will take approximately 8 hours to move all of the floats through the cities of Irwindale and Azusa. While the escorts are underway, intermittent full and partial road, lane and intersection closures will take place on Irwindale Avenue, Arrow Highway and Live Oak Avenue at various times during this time period.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol and the Irwindale Police Department will provide the escort duties and will temporarily close various streets, lanes and/or intersections along these routes in order to accommodate the safe transit of the floats. While the exact times of the closures will depend upon the progress of the various float caravans, it is anticipated that these closures will be temporary in nature.

Access to and from the Irwindale Metro Gold Line Station platform and parking structure on Avenida Padilla will also be limited and/or fully blocked during these times, however this will be temporary in nature.

Members of the community are allowed to observe the floats as they pass through the city, however all parking and vehicle/pedestrian traffic laws will be strictly enforced. Spectator parking is limited to legal street parking around the routes only. Parking on private property will not be allowed. Illegally parked vehicles are subject to citation and impound.

Observers are asked to remain on the public sidewalks and are not to enter the streets or roadways outside of marked crosswalks. No one will be allowed to approach, touch or access any of the floats at any time.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting the California Highway Patrol at 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247) or the Tournament of Roses at (626) 449-4100.
