Investigation Leads to Arrests and Cache of Weapons
The Fairfield Police Department’s Special Operations Team (SOT) focuses on narcotic, gang and weapons investigations. Detectives on this team use a wide range of tactics and skills to investigate the crimes in these areas in an effort to make Fairfield safer. Last Friday, 12/28/18, SOT concluded a lengthy criminal investigation. With assistance from other detectives in the Investigations Bureau, two separate search warrants were executed in the 1300 block of Cleveland St and the 2300 block of Woolner Ave.
As a result of the investigation and search warrants, a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine for sales, along with other evidence indicating sales were located. The detectives also located and recovered nine illegally possessed firearms. 48-year-old Fairfield resident Joseph Johnson and 37-year-old Fairfield resident Santos Sandoval, both convicted felons, were arrested on various weapons and narcotic sales offenses. Sandoval was also booked into custody for the offense of committing a new felony while out on bail.
Many times, these investigations only materialize through tips from members of the community. If you feel narcotic, gang or weapon offenses are occurring in your neighborhood, please call the Special Operations Team. They can be reached by calling the Fairfield Police Department’s Investigation Bureau at (707) 428-7600.
