The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Far western Rutherford County in western North Carolina... Eastern Henderson County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Polk County in western North Carolina...

* Until 245 AM EST Saturday.

* At 239 PM EST, emergency management reported continued effects from earlier heavy rainfall. The Rocky Broad River at Bat Cave has risen above flood stage. Campgrounds along the river are in danger of flooding. Lake Summit is above full pool, and as water is released from the lake downstream flooding is expected to worsen along the Green River in Polk County. Green River Cove Road has already flooded, and the Green River Highlands community likely will become isolated by rising floodwaters. Further downstream near Lake Adger, John Watson and Ken Miller roads may flood.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Saluda, Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave, Lake Adger, Mill Spring, Dana and Tuxedo.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HENDERSON, NC ... POLK, NC ... RUTHERFORD, NC

Instructions:

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Low-water crossings can be submerged by flood waters quickly and without warning. Never attempt to travel across flooded crossings. Find an alternate route. Numerous roads, parking lots and bridges will be threatened by heavy rain and rapidly rising streams and creeks. Please pay close attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area. Obey all barricades, even if water is not currently over the road. Barricades are in place for your protection and indicate areas where flooding can occur rapidly and without warning.
