On Wednesday, December 26, 2018, around 9:37 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital after receiving a call that gunshot victims had been transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies learned that there were three gunshot victims, one male teen and two male adults. The victims reportedly were travelling in a silver Honda sedan with three other occupants, one male adult and two teens, on a road in the Newhall/ Saugus area of Santa Clarita when they were shot at by a suspect in another vehicle.

The suspect allegedly pulled alongside the victims’ vehicle and an occupant of the suspect’s vehicle opened fire with an unknown-type firearm. Two male adults and one male teen were struck and injured by the gunfire. The other three occupants were uninjured. Santa Clarita Sheriff’s COBRA detectives are leading the investigation and are working to identify the suspect(s) involved, and the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Through preliminary investigation, detectives do not feel that the shooting was ‘random.’  Detectives believe that the shooting incident could have occurred on Railroad Avenue, near Drayton Avenue around 9:30 p.m., on Wednesday.

As of Thursday, December 27, 2018, the three victims are listed in stable condition, and expected to survive.
