Flood Watch until 07:00PM Friday
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a
* Flood Watch for portions of southwest Virginia and West Virginia, including the following areas, in southwest Virginia, Buchanan and Dickenson. In West Virginia, Boone, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Northwest Fayette, Northwest Nicholas, Northwest Pocahontas, Northwest Raleigh, Northwest Webster, Southeast Fayette, Southeast Nicholas, Southeast Pocahontas, Southeast Raleigh, Southeast Webster, and Wyoming.
* From this evening through Friday evening.
* Rain will be on the increase late today, with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall expected tonight and Friday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible. With nearly saturated soils from previous rainfall, this much rain may lead to flooding along creeks and streams and in other low lying, poor drainage areas.
* This additional rain will also make soil more unstable. A period of gusty winds is expected late today and tonight which could cause weak rooted trees to fall due to the saturated ground.

SOUTHEAST WEBSTER ... SOUTHEAST POCAHONTAS ... SOUTHEAST FAYETTE ... BOONE ... NORTHWEST FAYETTE ... BUCHANAN ... LOGAN ... NORTHWEST NICHOLAS
