A cold front is expected to slowly push east across the area Thursday into Thursday. The slow movement of the front could allow numerous rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to train over the same locations for several hours resulting in a risk of flash flooding in localized areas. * Flash Flood Watch FOR portions of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Lower Jefferson, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Lower Terrebonne, Northern Tangipahoa, Orleans, Pointe Coupee, Southern Tangipahoa, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Lafourche, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Upper Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. In Mississippi, Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson.

* A slow moving front could result in thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall training over the same areas for several hours. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected across much of area Thursday into Thursday night, but localized areas with rainfall totals in excess of 5 inches could occur. If these heavier rains fall over a short period of time, they could produce localized areas of flash flooding especially in low lying and poorly drained areas.
* People in the watch area should continue to be aware of the possibility for heavy rainfall. Avoid low lying areas and be careful when approaching highway dips and underpasses.
