Leaf Collection Update – 12/26/18 Please check the website for more information. Thank you

The Township continues to collect leaves as part of our annual Leaf Collection Program.  Due to the volume of leaves in the Zones and because of weather delays, crews are running behind schedule.  Residents should still prepare their leaves for collection based on the following schedule:

Zone 4:  Week of November 26 – COMPLETE 12/11/18
Zone 1:  Week of December 3 – COMPLETE 12/13/18
Zone 2:  Week of December 3 – COMPLETE 12/17/18
Zone 3:  Week of December 10 – Crews are still collecting in Zone 3
Zone 5:  Week of December 17 – will begin when Zone 3 is complete

Any leaves placed curbside outside of the times specified by the Township will be the responsibility of the homeowner to have removed.  Leaves should be placed at the street by 7:00 am on the Monday of the scheduled collection week.  Leaves placed at the street after our crews have collected that street will not be collected.

Sweeping, raking, blowing or otherwise placing leaves at the curb is only permitted seven (7) days prior to a scheduled collection.  Leaf piles should be placed no further than ten (10) feet from the edge of the roadway.  Leaves should not be placed around trees, signs, utility poles, or other obstacles.  Collection vehicles will not leave the roadway to collect piles of leaves.

Leaves should not be placed in the travel lane of any roadway and should be placed at least ten (10) feet from storm drains.  Leaves should be kept at least one foot from the curb to allow runoff from rain to flow freely.  Please do not park vehicles close to piles.  Leaves placed curbside that do not meet the strict guidelines above will not be collected.  Leaves placed at the street by professional landscapers, contractors, or anyone hired by a homeowner, must be removed by them.

Residents who still have leaves once the final pass is completed may bring their leaves to the DPW yard any Monday through Friday from 7 am to 2 pm and every third Saturday of the month from 8 am to 1 pm.  Residents must show proof of residency at the DPW yard.  Contractors are not permitted to dispose of any waste at the DPW yard.

Township crews make every effort to adhere to the collection schedule above.  However, inclement weather, breakdowns, or the volume of leaves in any given Zone may impact the Leaf Collection Schedule.  We appreciate your patience and consideration.

Christmas Tree Collection

The Department of Neighborhood Services will be collecting Christmas trees starting the week of Monday, January 28th.  Collection will take place over a two-week period and will end on Friday, February 8th.   Residents should place their trees at the street on their designated trash collection day with all stands, ornaments, and lights removed.  Residents who cannot wait for Christmas Tree Collection may bring their tree to the DPW yard during regular business hours.  Trees that are flocked or treated with artificial snow cannot be recycled and should be brought to the DPW yard during regular hours.  The DPW yard is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm and every third Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm; excluding holidays.  Questions about Christmas tree collection should be directed to our office at 609-654-6791, extension 316 or 322.
