Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 12/23/2018 at approximately 05:20am, his Deputies were called out to investigate a personal injury accident that occurred at M 60 west of Burn Lynd St in Howard Twp. Cass County MI. 33 year old Joyce Ann Kocher of Vandalia MI was traveling westbound on M 60 when she swerved to miss a deer. Kocher ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Alcohol was not a factor and seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash. Kocher sustained injuries from the crash and was transported to South Bend Memorial for her injuries by SMCAS Ambulance. Also assisting at the crash was Howard Fire Department.
