Headlight Out Yields Stolen Firearm and Illegal Narcotics

On Saturday December 22, 2018 at 8:05 pm Officer James Louis was working patrol in the 600 block of East Tabor Ave in the City of Fairfield.  Officer Louis observed a compact Toyota driving with only one headlight on and made a traffic enforcement stop for the vehicle code violation.

Officer Louis made contact with the driver who was up front and admitted to being on active probation.  The driver continued with his honesty and informed Officer Louis that he was in possession of a loaded firearm which was under his seat.

A search of the vehicle produced a loaded 9mm semi-auto handgun with two magazines taped together at the base under the driver’s seat. The handgun returned stolen out of state.  Also located in the vehicle was a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Arrested was 34 year old Suisun resident Wesley Groves.  Groves was booked into Solano County Jail for numerous weapons violations charges including, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of illegal narcotics, and probation violation.

One of the biggest dangers for Officer’s in the line of duty is the unknown.  Fortunately this individual was forthcoming with the information of the illegally possessed firearm in his vehicle and no one was injured.  This is another great example of The Fairfield Police Department removing an illegally possessed firearm and narcotics from our streets!
