Madison Ave S, from Bjune Dr to Parfitt Way, will be closed for the next several hours while crews repair a sewer main break. 
At approximately 11:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, a contractor installing underground cable in the 200 block of Madison Avenue S hit the City's sewer force main causing a sewer spill on Madison Ave S. Public Works crews were dispatched and are currently on scene. Kitsap County Public Works is providing assistance.
The sewer force main is a pressurized portion of the sewer conveyance system that ultimately transmits sewage to the wastewater treatment plant.
The Kitsap Public Health District has been notified.
People in the surrounding area are advised to limit their water usage during the repairs.
At this time, it is anticipated that the repairs will be made this afternoon with no break in service. However, if unforeseen conditions arise, the public will be notified.
