The Last Outstanding Murder Suspect Who Made #1 On SHERIFF VICTOR HILL’s Top Ten Most Wanted Has Now Been Captured!

Anthony Durell Mickel was wanted out of Clayton County for Murder with Malice and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  These charges stem from an incident which occurred on June 24th, 2017 at a location in Forest Park when Anthony Mickel shot his son’s mother in the head killing her after a physical altercation. The victim was transported to the hospital and was placed on life support.  The victim passed away from her injuries on June 30th, 2017.

Anthony Durell Mickel has now been taken into custody by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana.  Deputies responded to a report of several  males gambling in the laundry room of an apartment complex in Gretna, Louisiana.  Upon arrival to the scene, at least one handgun was observed resting on top of the counter or laundry machines.  When approached by law enforcement, the males were observed leaving the laundry room and two of them were observed running from the laundry room.  The responding deputies commanded one of the fleeing males to stop, but he continued into a breezeway, holding his waistband.  During the foot pursuit, the male suspect bent over near the rear tire of a parked vehicle, then stood up and continued running.  Responding deputies then cornered the suspect in another breezeway and once again ordered him to stop, at which point the subject complied and was taken into custody.  Deputies discovered a handgun lying next to the rear wheel of the vehicle where the suspect had bent down briefly.

Deputies identified the suspect as Anthony Durell Mickel, and a records check revealed that Mickel was #1 on Sheriff Victor Hill’s Top Ten Most wanted for murder out of Clayton County.  Mickel was searched subsequent to the arrest and two clear plastic bags of a brownish green substance, consistent in smell and appearance of marijuana, were recovered.  In addition, a second clear plastic bag containing two tablets was recovered.  The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged Mickel with Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Schedule IV Narcotic.

In the very near future, Mikel will be brought back to Clayton County where he will await trail while facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail now better known as the “Hill-ton”.

Special Note:  With the arrest of Mikel, all Fugitives with outstanding warrants for murder out of Clayton County have now been captured!
