CRIME:  11360 H.S. - Sales of Marijuana

VICTIM: State of California

SUSPECT:  Withheld pending investigation

NARRATIVE:
From the dates of December 17, 2018 through December 20, 2018, members of the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit, the Pomona Police Department’s Detective Bureau, and the California Department of Tax Fee Administration executed seven search warrants at seven unlicensed/criminal marijuana dispensaries. These dispensaries had been operating illegally within the City of Pomona for several weeks. The City of Pomona Code Enforcement Department made contact with the property owners of these illegal marijuana dispensaries regarding operating a marijuana dispensary without a business license. These marijuana dispensaries were also selling tobacco products without a license and all seven marijuana dispensaries failed to file a quarterly tax return. The property owners of these illegal marijuana dispensaries consistently refused to comply with the City’s request to cease all illegal activity. These investigations are sensitive and all efforts to gain compliance are exhausted before police action is taken. The sale of marijuana remains illegal in the City of Pomona.

During the service of these search warrants the teams recovered in excess of 500 ecstasy pills, 45 pounds of marijuana, 600 pounds of marijuana product, one firearm, and approximately $32,000 in US Currency.
