FLOOD WARNING FRI. 3-11AM HEAVY RAIN MODERATE TO MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING, MONITOR LOCAL FORECASTS, FRI- 6:24AM HIGH TIDE AT BRIDGE

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 11 AM EST
FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Coastal
Flood Warning, which is in effect from 3 AM to 11 AM EST Friday.

* LOCATIONS...Coastal areas of Middlesex and Monmouth Counties in
  New Jersey.

* TIMING...Flooding will occur for a few hours around the time of
high tide on Friday morning. High tide on the New Jersey
oceanfront is between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM Friday. High tide on
the back bays and along Raritan Bay occurs later than the high
  tide on the oceanfront.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...One to two feet of saltwater inundation
above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near
shorelines and tidal waterways. At this level, widespread
flooding of roadways is expected with many roads becoming
impassable in coastal sections of Middlesex and Monmouth
Counties. Some damage to vulnerable structures may begin to
occur. In Middlesex County, minor road flooding is possible in
Woodbridge Township, Perth Amboy, Old Bridge Township, and South
  Amboy.

* WAVES...Wave heights on the ocean waters off the coast are
forecast to be 6 to 9 feet. Wave heights on Raritan Bay are
forecast to be from 2 to 5 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major tidal
flooding is occurring or imminent. Be prepared for rising water
levels and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
Follow the recommendations of local emergency management
officials.

Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be
deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in
danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly
repairs.

Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at
water.weather.gov/ahps for additional water level and flood
impact information for your local tide gauge.
