Incident: Fatal Traffic Collision
Location: Fremont Blvd. at Clough Ave
Date/Time of Incident: December 18, 2018 at 10:05 p.m.
On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 10:05 p.m., Fremont Police and Fire responded to a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Fremont Blvd. at Clough Ave.
When officers arrived, paramedics were already at the scene treating a 33 year old male pedestrian, Mountain View resident, suffering from major injuries. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later and the Alameda County Coroner was notified. A callout was initiated and traffic officers took over the investigation.
The driver, a 53 year old female, Fremont resident, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It has not been determined if the pedestrian was in the crosswalk.
While drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor, the driver consented to a drug and alcohol test shortly after the collision.
The Alameda County Coroner will investigate the cause of death and handle all family notifications. The name of the 33 year old is being withheld at this time.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.
This is Fremont’s fifth fatal traffic collision this year.
